Is there something special about this cable? Aside from having a Yaesu part number and the Yaesu price, could I just use a CAT 6 POE LAN cable of the appropriate length to mount the control head of the FTM-510D? Thanks in advance. de W4ANT

I assume you are referring to the SCU 62 Yaesu SCU-62 Control-Head Extension Cable 10ft for the FTM-510D. This is a straight through 8 conductor RJ 45 cable. It should be wired 1-1, 2-2, etc. It is compatible with most all of Yaesu FTM series radios. While it looks like a standard CAT cable, I am not sure that they are both wired the same.
