Want to extend the range of your HT or hand held? Take a 22 inch piece of thin wire, unscrew the “rubber duckie” slightly, wrap about two turns of the wire around the antenna base, screw the antenna back in. Now you have about 21 inches of wire hanging down on your HT. This creates a “ground plane” or a “radial” for you rubber duckie. You will be surprised at the improvement in transmission. There are many You Tube videos on the “tiger tail”. Try it! You’ll be amazed!
