I got a POTA 33H and I am planning to not extend it fully. I want to keep it in my backyard (HOA regulated) below the roof level, around 24’. Since not all carbon fiber segments will be extended, and since they do not lock-in at middle section, it leaves the metal base with a large opening on its top around the last locked segment. It creates a large circumference around the last locked segment, creating a way for water (rain) to access the inside of the metal base. Before I try this partial extension, I am planning on how to prevent this to happen. I am thinking in using aluminum foil around it, but I am open for better ideas, including 3D printing.

Eduardo: Thanks for thinking of us. I think you’re on the right track. My only suggestion would be to use duct tape over the foil. It will assure a no-stick solution and a good seal.
