Is it workable to use my FT-857D with a Shark Ham Stick antenna vertically on my car’s rooftop (mag mount) without an external antenna Tuner on 10M or 20M ?
Same question when 2 Shark Ham Sticks are used in a horizontal dipole mount bracket ?
@Byron_Gustafson Yes, it will work without issues as long as the hamsticks are properly tuned, preferably using an antenna analyzer, which we also carry. No antenna tuner required. I would also recommend using a ground braid from the antenna mount to anywhere in the vehicle’s chassis to serve as a counterpoise to improve the performance of the antennas.
