Recommended use for Intellitron HA-1711S 2M Telescopic HT Antenna

What is the recommended use for the Intellitron HA-1711S 2M Telescopic HT Antenna, and does it perform better on 2m and 70cm than the widely recommended and used Diamond SRH320A? I have a Yaesu VX-6r.

@James_Burton

As noted in the description, this could be a replacement for your rubber duck. With it’s SMA connector it can screw onto your Hand Held’s SMA connector. It can also be used on a more permanent mount, such as magnetic mount, but would require the appropriate adapter from sma to uhf male and with a uhf magnetic mount.

As noted, this fine antenna extends to 40 inches and will greatly increase the range of your 2M radio. Note that the HA-1711S is only a 2M antenna, and not a dual band antenna.

Note that the Intellitron HA-1711s is 40 inches when extended, while the SRH320A is only 13.75 inches. The HA-1711s is only 2 meters, while the SRH320s is tri band.
As you may know, the Intellitron-1711S is a direct match for your VX-6R and just screws right on.

Thank you for the info. I don’t have a rubber duck antenna to compare with, but when I tried both antennas last night, the Intellitron seemed to not perform as well as the other antenna on 2m even when fully extended.

Try adding a “Tiger Tail”. A 22 inch piece of wire added at antenna base and radio connection. Google “Tiger Tail for amateur radio”
