I paid for and received the MARS mod. I input the code into my handheld. My concern is that during testing of the FRS frequencies, I’m unable to transmit. I understand the legalities, but I was under the impression this “unlocked” the frequencies that were limited to HAM use and opened up MARS/CAP (FRS and GMRS also)… for example, 462.6125 I can listen but not transmit. I have a red transmit light but no carry. This is for emergency use I’m aware but in preparation testing it doesn’t work.
Are there other settings in the QRZ-1 I’m missing??
