I have a General Class License and I am thinking of purchasing a ICOM 7300MK2. (It will be my first HF rig.). I’m thinking about a “Samlex 30 Amp Switching Power Supply - SEC-1235P-M” for this 7300. Is this a wise choice? Do I need anything else like cabling between the rig and power supply? (I’ve got an EFHW and grounding already setup at my shack for this rig.)
From all the reading I have done being a Technician I have found that a Astron RS-35 Linear power supply would be best (but heavy) because it would produce very little RF noise and has excellent reliability.

That is a good choice for the 7300. It’s a small power supply and very reliable. I have 2 samlex power supplies. One on 7300 and the other on a Yaesu 710 for several years without any problems. Astron RS-35 is a good power supply. however, it’s a large heavy power supply (boat anchors) in ham terms. I have an advanched license and been a ham for 59 years.
Also consider the Intellitron power supplies PS-2230MAB. Great quality, 2-year warranty, great price.

I have been using the Samlex SEC-1235M power supply for my station since inception (2022). I have heard no complaints of noise in my transmissions nor have I heard any noise from this switching power supply. These supplies were designed for use in the radio communications sector. My radio club uses them for Field Day to power all our stations.
They are supplied with an Allen wrench, set screws and terminal lugs for the power supply end of your wires. It is up to you to supply your wires and crimp/solder the provided lugs into the wire. You can do so with Anderson Power Pole pigtails!
