A few months ago I was preparing for my favorite contest; CQ 160 SSB. AS I typically do everything gets checked over since I use my K3 for that contest but my inner voice said “Steve…try the Flex…try the Flex” so I did.
Well tested the Flex 6400 on the 160m vertical and the dipole hanging in a undisclosed location at my Remote Shack here in Alabama. Everything was looking good so I changed the jumper over to the K3 to test…this is where it went bad. While the Flex was plugged into the 160m dipole I never changed to another band while testing the K3 and on the same frequency completely killed the front end of the Flex 6400.
$900 later a easy mistake that my experienced mind should have never made happened and a lesson learned.
