That is very interesting, but the

590sg lists at $1495(newer)

and the 590s

lists at $4195(older)

seems strange, bit they look like

they are nice radios.

Just curious….John

The main differences are that the TS-890S is a more advanced, higher-end transceiver with a large color touchscreen and two receivers, making it ideal for contesting and DXing.

The TS-590SG is a more compact and value-oriented model with a traditional knob-and-button interface, but still offers exceptional performance, especially in its receiver section.

TS-890S

  • Display: Features a large 7-inch TFT color display, which serves as a central control point for operations and displays helpful information like the filter scope.

  • Receivers: Includes a true dual-receiver system, which is a significant advantage for challenging operating conditions like contesting and DXing.

  • Advanced Features: Designed with a focus on user interface, and includes features like a built-in DVI output to display the scope on an external monitor.

  • Physical Design: Larger than the TS-590SG, and prioritizes an advanced user interface with a touchscreen.

  • Price and positioning: A flagship model, positioned as a higher-end transceiver.

TS-590SG

  • Display: Has a smaller, traditional display without a touchscreen.

  • Receivers: Features a single, but high-performance, receiver. The receiver section is known to be exceptionally clean and powerful.

  • Advanced Features: Does not have some of the advanced features of the TS-890S, but still includes a built-in speech processor, a built-in automatic antenna tuner, and USB connectivity for CAT control and audio.

  • Physical Design: More compact, with a more traditional layout of physical knobs and buttons, which some users prefer for its simplicity and ease of use.

  • Price and positioning: A mid-range transceiver, known for providing excellent value and performance at its price point.

Have a great evening and weekend
