I am interested in the LDG AT200. My question is there an interface cable to connect the AT200 to my older Kenwood TS430S ?
Hi Grahame! Still trying to get that thing going? Unaware of anything we have that will work with that
I had your radio 32 years ago, except that it was a TS-430SAT with the built-in tuner. LDG does not have a cable for its tuners for the TS-430S. My suggestion is that you look for a used Kenwood AT-250. You might try www.ldgelectronics.com/contact-us to see if they have a solution. Thanks for contacting GigaParts,
Might suggest a UTube search on the radio and tuner combo. You are not the first guy with the question.
Grahme,
As you know the rear of your TS-430 has the 8 pin connector for the older AT-250 that was made for that radio. So the short answer is you may have to wire your own cable…or find a used AT-250 that matches your radio.
However, once you power the AT200 with the power cable, that connects to your power supply…the tuner will work by just hitting the tune button. It does not require direct interface with your older radio. And of course you can tune with activating the microphone or keying.
My other suggestion is the Z100 Plus tuner which is less expensive and uses internal batteries as well as a 12 volt power cable if you desire. Again the tuner will work without any radio specific connecting cable. There are many radios, even newer models, that use an external tuner without any connection to the radio.
In short, there are a lot of LDG options for your venerable TS-430s. I also recommend you give LDG a call at 410-586-2177 or send them an e-mail to hear their recommendations. LDG tuners work with almost all radios and tuner specific cables are not reauired.
I hope this helps, and thanks for shopping GigaParts!
