Horizontal Mini Hamsticks on car roof magnetic mount in a V shape with the point of the V at the front of the car

Hello.

I have an X6100 & x6200. I am interested in an NVIS antenna for local (100 mile radius) communication from my vehicle. I am not fully knowledgeable in the area of antennas and wanted advice on potentially mounting two mini hamsticks horizontally for the 40/20 meter bands (SSB, CW and/or FT8) with a magnetic mount in a V shape with the point of the V pointing towards the front of the car.

1. Is this the best design for a NVIS contact within roughly 100 miles. This will be while the vehicle is in motion.

2. Do you recommend a different design for NVIS that is very low profile?

3. What products will I need to achieve this design? (hamsticks, magmount, dual 45 degree connector that screws into the magmount, etc)

Thanks.

I do not believe there are any NVIS antennas for mobile use and for HF frequencies. Your best bet is a single hamstick mounted vertically with either a magnetic mount or a lip mount for each band that you want to work. We have a wide selection of hamsticks from Intellitron and Shark and a number of 3/8 x 24 mounts. Note too that your Xeigu radios are BNC connectors so you will need an adapter for the PL-259 connector, if you don’t already have that. Note too that 100 mile communications on 40 meters and 20 meters is almost impossible. These frequencies are HF and bounce signals off the ionisphere for much longer distances. 100 miles is also too far for ground wave at those frequencies.
