I just upgraded my license to general, and I am looking for an antenna solution to match my FT-710. Due to living circumstances (HOA), I am limited, for now, to installing an antenna in my attic. The attic has a decent amount of space. It is an A-Frame with a peak clearance of 8 feet, and on each side it slopes down. I have about 18 feet on each side, for a total of around 36 feet. The roof is Terracotta, no metal. The roof is Terracotta, no metal. I was looking at the ALPHA DELTA DX-EE Parallel Dipole as a potential solution, even though it is a little bit longer than I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Andrew_Harbert My team has advised: Although the Alpha Delta DX-EE is an excellent choice, keep in mind it is 40 Ft long, so you will have to finagle it into an inverted V from side to side as you only have 36 Ft total. The antenna comes with traps to compensate for the lack of length needed for the 40-meter band, and it is self-resonant, so an antenna tuner is not needed, except for some portions of the band where the bandwidth is too narrow. I hope this info helps!
I bought the same DX-EE Antenna, However my SWR is awful, and in the instructions when installing in Attic you must purchase and Tuner which i did and it does work but SWR is not great, disappointed in it for sure.
