Its a beast. 85w and built like a tank
What’s the difference between a FT-3185R and a FT-3185Rasp other than the price?
Kevin,
The Yaesu FT-3185RASP comes with the ASP unit (~$60 module) pre-installed, which is designed to enhance audio quality, especially for weak signals, by digitally processing the received audio signal to separate and remove noise. This is often activated in conjunction with the radio’s Super-DX function for improved weak signal reception.
The standard Yaesu FT-3185R does not have this ASP module and it must be purchased / installed separately.
The RASP has Audio digital Signal Processing while the R does not, but only has Super DX receive. So in short, the RASP receiver is slightly more selective and improves reception of weak signals. So for $35 more you get a slightly better receiver in the RASP. For local repeater use…it may or may not be worth it depending on your use and location.
