For convenience, we would like to mount a mobile transceiver on a UTV to communicate with existing FRS HTs. Is such a unit on the market, or can a GMRS capable mobile be modified to be compliant with FRS restrictions?
@Dale_Valach Companies selling GMRS radios must comply with Part 95, Subpart E, which allows for high-power output and repeater operation. FRS radios, FCC type Part 95 subpart B, for simplex use and low power output. The only time I have seen users operating the same radio on both bands is when they use a Part 90 commercial radio and ensure compliance with the frequency allotment and power output.
