I’m looking for a refractor that will work well for astrophotography. Can you explain the differences between these two refractors please?
The explore scientific is a true apochromatic refractor, with three elements in the primary lens. The skywatcher has two elements and is an achromatic lens, but SW uses high dispersion glass (ED glass) to get what they consider apo performance. Sometime you’ll hear them referred to as “semi-apos”.
The ES has a focal length of 480mm vs SW 600mm which means a smaller image but wider field of view.
