I am looking for a decent headset, like the Heil Sound PS 7 Blue that I can use with all my three HTs, using different adapter cables. Right now when out in the field, I have to carry three different headsets, and I would like to carry just one, but decent one.
Any ideas?
Marc/K1MBL: There is no single solution due to different pinouts and connector spacing of the FT-5d, IC-52 and TH-D75 which are all very similar radios. None are DMR, i.e., so is there one you can consolidate your amateur radio favorites on?
I would be totally fine with using three (or at least 2) adapters. My main radio is the FT5D and then I would like to have an adapter for KENWOOD too.
Marc,
You may want to look at Heil’s HTH-Y, HTH-I, or PSM6. These probably aren’t quite what you have in mind, but are designed specifically for HT’s…and are single ear.
I have one HTH-Y for my Yaesu, but the plug is not swappable, so I would need three of these headsets. Besides, they are not very good for loud field assignments.
The PSM-6 looks amazing, but there are no adapters for HTs available. I actually reached out to Heil and they confirmed they no longer make those, and referred me to the HTH series, which is not an option.
Are there any other headset solutions with variable adapters?
Unfortunately, there is not any other headset solutions with variable adapters for what you are trying to accomplish.
