I’m looking for a mobile antenna for mostly 40m and 20m or 80m would be great as well. Would this antenna mount on my rear panel next to tail light and tailgate on my 3rd gen Tacoma and I was thinking of bending it over forward to hopefully get NVIS propagation. Has anyone done anything like this and is there an alternative for roughly the same amount <$150? PS. I WILL have a tuner in my truck. Thanks. 73
did you receive my link for intellitron antennas…We are working on a brand new software page and I am just tryoing to figure things out?
David,
The key is what mount you are using. Can you use a Diamond Lip mount on your Tacoma? My recommendation is several hamsticks for 80, 40, 20. These use the 3/8 x 24” mount. We have great Intellitron Hamsticks in the standard 44 inch size here at GigaParts. One antenna is not practical for those bands…unless you can use the Yaesu ATAS 120a…but you need a mount. The other thing to keep in mind, is that 80 meters mobile requires a great ground. My recommendation is ensure you have another ground from your body or frame of the truck. Remember an 80 meter dipole is 256 feet long and you are compressing it into a 44 inch hamstick.
I have my mobile antenna mounted on the hood on the driver’s side. GigaParts offers a drivers side no hole fender mount for your Toyota. No-Hole Antenna Fender Mount for Toyota | Comet Antennas GigaParts.com
